one year training scheme combined work experience with eduaction for unemployed school leavers
what does work experience act as?
a bridge helping students transition from school to the work place

taught in school as an alternative to academic courses, teach job specific skills in the classroom

its a second rate education for the working class

produce a pool of low skilled cheap labour to serve capitalism as the middle class will have higher education

what is marketisation?
refers to the aim of making schools compete with each other like a bussinessess
why was marketisation introduced?
to raise educational standards and improve learning

more parentocracy, raise standards by increasing competition, and increased testing and exams

league tables,open enrolement, formula funding and ofsted
what is league tables and how did it increase competition and choice?
the ranking of schools based on exam results,schools had to competiton for there position at the top of the ranks and parents had the option to view the best schools
what is ofsted and how did it increase competition and choice?
inspectors would measure how good a school is and report it so schools have to compete for the best report and parents can see the reports so they have a choice on which school is best
what is formula funding and how does it create competition?
the funding of school being dertermined by the number of students, so schools would have to compete for more pupils to get more money
what is open enrolement and how does it create competition and choice?
parents were given the right to choice the schools they wanted instead of the one nearest, so schools have to compete to attract the parents

parental choice

why may formula funding cause problems?
underperforming schools wont be abput to compete with the higher performing schools so wont gain enough funding
why may ofsted lack validility?
only offers a snap shot of schools as they are only there for a couple of days
