Consequences of rapidly growing population Flashcards
National income
A high percentage of national income will need to be spent on education and child health care.
Active working population
A young population will eventually form the active working population, vital for the development of that country.
Active cohort
Youthful population will soon move into, the active cohort requiring jobs, health care, houses, power and many other services. It may be that in the poorer areas of the world there are insufficient economic resources to support this.
High dependency ratio
Country such as Senegal, where they have a high dependency, will have greater burden of providing support and care to the economically dependant.
Food
There could be more strain on food resources, leading to over-cultivation causing famines.
