Congenital - Cyanotic CHD Flashcards
Give 3 S/S of cyanotic CHD
- cyanosis
- hyperventilating
- delayed growth
- tachycardia
- sweating
Ao arises from morphologic RV, PA arises from morphologic LV
Complete transposition of the great arteries (D-TGA)
What happens if there is no shunt present with a D-TGA?
It would be fatal
Most common cyanotic heart defect
Tetralogy of Fallot
4 anomalies of ToF
- VSD
- Pulmonary stenosis
- Overriding Ao
- RVH
Single large vessel arising from the base of the heart
Truncus arteriosus
How many different configurations of truncus arteriosus are there?
4
PVs drain directly or indirectly into the RA, no connection to LA at all
Total anomalous pulmonary venous return
What happens if there is no ASD or PFO (shunt) with TAPVR?
Death
Congenital absence/closure of valve. Usually pulmonary or tricuspid
Valvular atresia
Is tricuspid atresia shunt dependent?
Yes
Most severe end of spectrum of ToF
Pulmonary atresia with VSD
Very small LV, Ao stenosis/atresia, MV atresia
Hypoplastic LV
Both great arteries come from morphologic RT heart
Double outlet RV
Luminal narrowing of the Ao and often associated with bucuspid AV
Coarctation
