Congenital Anomalies- Cervical Flashcards
C2/C3 fusion
The post elements of C2/3 will look fused but generally are not (just how it looks)
Klippel-fiel syndrome- what constitutes it and what is the clinical triad
- Multiple block vert
- > 2 fused segments (in C or T)
clinical triad- short neck, low post hairline, low ROM in c spine
What is Sprengels deformity
- Failure of scapula to descend (unilaterally)
- higher scap + could have omovertebral bone
Omovertebral bone (where do they run from and what other anomoly is it associated w)
- In 30-40% of sprengels
- -From c5-6 Sps, laminae or TVPs to sup angle of scap
Agenesis, hypoplasia and os odontoideum (what are they, are there contraindications)
Agenesis- doesnt form at all
Hypoplascia- partially formed
Os odontodeum- has odontoid but doesnt fuse
do not smt any of these
Ossiculum terminale (what is it, are there contraindications)
very top is not fused (no sig)
Traits of agenesis of post arch
at c1
- complete of partial loss of post arch
- uni/bilat
- usueally has post tubercle
What is post ponticle
-ossification of atlanto-occipital membrane
(post aspect of lat mass to post arch of c1
What is a third condyle and where is it located
-small accessory osicle @ anteroinferior margin of foramen magnum (just above ant tubercle of c1)
paramastoid process (what view is it seen in)
APOM
-extra bone comming off TVP of c1 that forms bony union w mastoid
what is occipitalization (and what are some pot complications of it)
-Where post arch of c1 fuses to occiput
- could creat basillar impression
- Arnold chiari malformation (herniation of brainstem thru FM)
Unfused ossification center (what will you see)
- diagnosed after skeletal maturity
- smooth cortical bone that lines up w SP
Nuchal bones (where are they found)
Anatomical varient (sesamoid bone)
-small bone in nuchal lig far post)
