What is the definition of a confined space?
A confined space can be any space which is substantially, but not always entirely enclosed, where there is a risk of death or serious injury from hazardous substances or dangerous conditions e.g. a lack of oxygen.
Name four examples of a confined space?
Any chamber, tank, vat, pit, flue, well, silo, trench, sewer or pipe

What is the maximum period a Permit to Work can be issued for?
Restricted to 8 hours or a full shift.

A standing instruction can be used for a one off task or repeat tasks and can be issued for a period of up to 12 months after which point it will be reviewed by the AP(CS)
