Agility
The ability to move and change direction quickly at speed was maintaining control.
Balance
The maintenance of the centre of mass over the base of support
Two types of balance:
static balance and dynamic balance
Cardiovascular endurance
The ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to the working muscles
Examples of cardiovascular endurance
A marathon runner.
A good marathon runner was good. Cardiovascular endurance will be good at supplying oxygen to the working muscles.
Coordination
The ability to use different parts of the body together, smoothly and efficiently
Examples of agility
A dodge in netball
Examples of balance
Static balance performing, a headstand,
dynamic balance, walking or snowboarder on downhill descent
Example of coordination
Hitting a cricket ball with a bat dribbling in hockey
Flexibility
The range of movement possible at a joint
Example of flexibility
Gymnast needs a good range of movement in many of the joints to create the shapes moves required in the floor. Routine example, performing splits.
Muscular endurance
Ability of a muscle or muscle group to undergo repeated contractions, avoiding fatigue
Example of muscular endurance
Rowers performing repeated contractions
Power or explosive strength (anaerobic power)
Strength x speed
Example of power and explosive strength
Smash or a spike in volleyball, hitting with strengthen move in the arm at speed
Pointer released when throwing a discus
Reaction
The time taken to initiate a response to a stimulus
