What are the social benefits of exercise?
Increased cooperation skills, developing friendships, good attitude for competing.
What is aesthetic appreciation?
When something is pleasing to the eye.
What are the positive health benefits of fitness on well being?
Maintain optimum weight, cardio-respiratory system is more efficient, happier and more confidant, better sleep, quicker recovery from illness/injury.
What are the negative health effects of fitness on well being?
Can become addictive and lead to overtraining, focusing on body image can lead to anorexia, overuse injury.
What lifestyle choices can affect your fitness and well being?
Diet, activity level, work/sleep/rest balance, recreational drugs, smoking and nicotine, alcohol.
What is a hypokenetic disease?
Diseases caused by inactivity such as diabetes, osteoporosis.
What are the negative effects of smoking?
Damages to the cardiorespitory system, incresed risk of lung cancer, bronchitis.
What are the negative effects of alcohol?
Dehydration, reduced cardiovascular fitness, slows nerves in brain, weight gain, sleep disruption.
What is meant by a sedentary lifestyle?
A lifestyle with little to no physical activity.
What are the consequences of leading a sedentary lifestyle?
Weight related issues, depression, CHD, high blood pressure.
What is osteoporosis?
Loss of bone density so bones break easily.
What does overweight mean?
When you weigh more than is ideal for your height.
What is overfat?
When you have more body fat then is ideal.
