Any incident invoving more pts than can be handled by resources

What does a transport control officer do?
establish communication link with op centre
maintain casualty movement log
apply a pt number to triage label of each victim prior to transport
What does a triage officer do?
Report on type of incidenct, estimated no of casualties, resource requirements
Commence only life-saving treatment
Classify pts into walking or stretcher pts
Stretcher pts are for urgent removal or less urgent removal
What are the triage categories?
Red - top priority needs immediate care
Yellow - second priority will survive with delayed treatment
Green - third priority walking wounded
Black - dead
What details are on the reverse side of the triage card?
name, pt no for casualty movement log, time of first triage, treatment given, injuries
Triage Sieve
applied at scene, dynamic must occur repeatedly, rapidly categorise pts with minimum intervention
categorise according to: walking, resp status, HR
