Full Two-Way Communication: Learners listen and respond effectively in the target language.
Language Transfers
Refers to a situation where the learning of a skill in one language transfers to a second language. For example, learning to read in Spanish will facilitate the ability to learn to read in English in an individual who speaks Spanish and is learning English. The transfer can be positive (use of cognates) or negative (false cognates).
Effective Transfer from L1 to L2
Teachers should take into consideration the language and cultural differences. By doing this, teachers can foresee what may be difficult or easy for the students when learning L2 and will provide clues of how to act. In the meantime, teachers of second languages should also consider the similarities between the native and target language and make emphasis on the similarities, especially during the first years of teaching L2.
Affective Filter Hypothesis by Krashen
Are the affective factors that play a role in second language acquisition, such as Low motivation, low self-esteem, and anxiety.
What is the meaning of the Affective Filter Hypothesis.
Low Affective Filter = High Language Acquisition (high motivation, high self-esteem and low anxiety). In other words, to acquire a second language, the affective filter must be low.
