D1. Both poems differ in the way which power of memory is portrayed. For example, in Poppies memory is very powerful because she can relive moments with her son, however in Kamikaze, memory is weak because it is overcome by power of society.

S2. Both poems explore the conflict between the duty to one’s country and the duty to one’s family. For example, in Poppies, the boy left the mother in emotional distress to fight for his country in war, and similarly, in Kamikaze, the soldier left his family to fight for his country.

S3. Both poems explore conflict as being glamorised by the Government, yet being brutal and ugly in reality to individuals
