“Simon found for them fruit they could not reach”

“Simon became inarticulate to express mankind’s essential illness”

“Batty” “Cracked” Outsider

“A silver shape beneath steadfast constellations, Simon’s body moved out towards the open sea”

Silver shape quote analysis - Celestial element to his send off - a mythical aspect is shown through his death, provoking ideas about Simon as a christ like figure. Also, he is the only boy who escapes from the island - he dies but his body floats away. The others either turn savage or their bodies stay on the island. This shows how SImon is able to escape the svagery on the island, and also on earth. The horror of his death is contrasted by the beauty of his send off
