Radio knob turned clockwise..radio will self power up test..

-if test is successful , splash screen will appear not the radio display followed by the HOME SCREEN returning to last channel and zone selected when radio was on(regardless of sector knob)

  • depressed, member should pause 1/2 second, allowing HT ID to be transmitted, after PTT is released, a tone will e heard through microphone speaker, this tone level is proportional to volume setting , this will:
    1. inform operator of volume setting
    2. indicate radio is properly functioning
    3. signal end of the transmission

30 second timer out……

A

cuts off transmitter after 30 seconds of continuous transmission, short audible WARNING TONE at 26 seconds and a continuous tone at 30…operator can rekey PTT, this resets time out timer

-TOP display will illuminate in ORANGE/amber AND alternate between EMERGENCY and UNIT ID

A

-mayday or urgent
-(1)impolite and (2)polite alert tones
-IMPOLITE TONE-tranmission sent even when channel IS BUSY , will NOT preempt any ongoing transmissions..some radios may not receive ea tone (proximity, steel, height, terrain, other factor)
Polite tone–transmission sent when channel is NOT BUSY, increases likelihood that other will receive ea tone

  • -beacon tone from EA transmitting radio
  • emitted from members HT until it is reset
  • EA may be reset by depressing EAB for 2 seconds , or turning HT OFF AND THEN BACK ON

-displays identity of radio transmitting EA, alpha numeric of new HT, or 7 digit ID on older models

  • REMOTE speaker mic becomes wet, shake unit well
  • FIELD comm additional HT’s for emergency use
  • members shall NOT remove or replace any accessories associated with radio, including antenna or speaker
