A

11, 12, 14, 15…

  • transmit on a frequency, but receive a signal back on a DIFFERENT FREQUENCY …only possible when used in conjunction with UHF repeater system

(building 11/12 is OPPOSITE/ POST IS BACK UP)

A

–OFFICER procure PROPRIETARY HT

  • have MEMBER staff Command POST and monitor channel on PROPRIETARY HT
  • OFFICER or FF carry proprietary radio
  • FUNCTIONAL TEST PRIOR TO LEAVING LOBBY
  • NOITFY DISPATCH FOR RE-TRANSMITTAL to incoming units proprietary repeater activated

IN BUILDING REPEATER CHANNEL 11 AND CHANNEL 12

–communicate using panel via H/T, PUSH TO TALK , OR HANDSET

A
  • CONSOLE for ARC system will be ADJACENT OR IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF FIRE COMMAND STATION
  • LABELED CHANNEL 11 AND CHANNEL 12
  • ACTIVATE WITH 1620 KEY and ROTATE CLOCKWISE , KEY IS NOT REMOVABLE , YOU WILL NEED 2 KEYS TO ACTIVATE CHANNEL 11 AND CHANNEL 12…some keys labeled ON or ACTIVE —VISUAL INDICATION SYSTEM IS ON

PRIMARY BUILDING REPEATER IS CHANNEL 11 (subway is channel 14)

-THE TWO CHANNELS/SYSTEMS OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY

non removable key, unlike elevator fireman service

INCIDENT COMMANDER will determine who operates on REPEATER (same as subway)

repeaters cannot support multiple messages

ANY MEMBER OPERATING ON REPEATER CHANNEL MUST BE TEAMED UP WITH MEMBER OPERATING ON TACTICAL CHANNEL(subway reads “ HT-1”)……but in High Rise (could be HT-1 or HT-2)

Post Radio

17
Q

2nd arriving ENGINE OFFICER must still fulfill his duties with POST RADIO /COMMAND CHANNEL LINK

A

THIS POST RADIO WILL BE BACKUP TO BUILDING REPEATER CHANNEL 11/12

(proprietary radios being used…POST RADIO WILL BE PRIMARY COMMAND )

upon arrival of 2ND DUE BC, he will instruct 1st due LADDER MEMBERS TO RETURN TO CHANNEL 1

18
Q

HT relay at subway must ALWAYS BE ESTABLISHED

A

Grand Central Terminal/Penn Station/Path Station/Path Jersey City Line-use Channels 11/12 (Officer must follow procedures of building ARCS

19
Q

Procedure if Auxiliary Radio Communication Systems Fail….?

A

PRIOR to abandoning the use of ARCS, Chief and company Officer shall instruct units to return to a location where previous communications were SUCCESSFUL….if communications at this location are now successful on the ARCS channel, REPORT THE DEAD SPOT to the IC and continue to operate on the ARCS channel….if unsuccessful, use the HT on Channel 1 to report the repeater failure to the INCIDENT COMMANDER

20
Q

BASE STATION LEAKY CABLE

A

SIMPLEX channels 1-8(FDNY programmed) or may utilize in house proprietary

transmissions FROM BASE STATION carried by cable to ALL AREAS of the building or infrastructure

  • ONLY WAY LOBBY COMMAND POST can communicate to members above is from fixed HANDSET attached to base stations
  • transmissions captured by cable are received by base station and MUST BE RE-TRANSMITTED by member monitoring

CHIEF can transmit from a BASE STATION THROUGHOUT BUILDING however members transmitting from above will only transmit their message directly to LOBBY , not throughout
-also activated by 1620 key
