Pre-operation radio checks
Case, cracks, loose antenna, missing buttons, charged batter, connections are sound, select correct channel
Perform radio check
Identify yourself and intended receiver e.g.g “(my call sign) to (receiver call sign), do you read me?” repeat until contact established
Message content for radio
Use correct radio protocol at all times, speak clearly, don’t shout, keep talk brief and to the point, use plain english, no slang or swearing, ask the sender to repeat any message or part of message that you don’t understand. Repeat any message or part of message when requested
