What is included in the pre-flight briefing to a hearing impaired passenger?
FA:

A
  • Points out the “seatbelt”, “no smoking” signs and the emergency exits using the safety features card.
  • Shows the use of the seatbelt, oxygen mask, air vent, and call button.
  • Looks directly at the person and speaks slowly. Many hearing impaired passengers can read lips.
  • Asks what type of assistance the passenger would like to receive from the FA.
  • Ensures the passenger watches the safety video and understands it.

A
  • Seatbelt fastened and adjusted under the stomach
  • Arms stretched out, crossed over, grasping the top of the chairback with head against arms or, if not possible, arms crossed under legs.

What is the door arming procedure?

A
  • Wait for the Flight Director’s signal.
  • Lift the plastic cover.
  • Remove the safety pin and secure it in the hole provided on the support arm.
  • Place the arming lever to the ARMED position.
  • Lower the plastic cover.
  • Visually check for arming indicators. Crosschecks (walks to opposite door and visually check for arming indicators).
  • L-3 will confirm by interphone that doors/exits are armed (A310/B737 only).
