How should the RMU units be set up for flight?
RMU 1 - main ATC communications.
RMU 2 - guard, AIRINC, company/dispatch
What is the TBCH and what does it do?
The Tuning Backup Control Head is a unit that provides an alternative means of tuning the NAV 2 and COM 2.
It is also possible to tune the RMU 1 NAV and COM frequencies using the RMU cross-side operational mode.
In the normal mode what does the TBCH display?
RMU 2 NAV and COM frequencies.
What happens when the TBCH is set to emergency mode?
The radio management system will accept only the NAV and COM tuning via TBCH, ignoring the RMUs control.
When does the Cockpit Voice Recorder begin recording?
As soon as the aircraft is powered up.
How long does the Cockpit Voice Recorder store information?
Two hours on a continuous loop.
How is the Cockpit Voice Recorder tested?
By pressing and holding the test button until the light illuminates.
When does the Flight Data Recorder begin recording information?
When the beacon is turned on. If the bacon is deferred weight off wheels.
How long does the flight data recorder record information for?
25 hours on a continuous loop.
Why is it important to set the flight number on the left-hand side clock?
So the Flight Data Recorder can correlate data.
When does the weather radar go into forced standby mode?
Upon landing.
How can the weather radar’s forced standby mode be overridden?
By pushing the STAB button four times within three seconds.
