Reduces MR pressure to a control pressure which will then be duplicated in the equalising reservoir depending on the position of the brake controller handle. This will then be duplicated in the BP by the relay valve
What does the relay valve do?
Controls the flow in and out of the BP to a pressure set by the equalising reservoir
What does the charging valve do?
- allows MR air to flow to the relay valve to charge the BP
- is open in all positions except emergency
What does the lockout magnet valve and ball check valve do?
Prevents the simultaneous application of air brake and EP brake
What does the emergency exhaust valve do?
- vents BP air directly to atmosphere when an emergency brake application is made
- charging valve is closed when this valve is open
What does the equalising reservoir do?
Aids in the smoother operation of the relay valve when exhausting BP air to atmosphere when an air brake application is being made
