What is white light made up of?
White light is made up of all the colours of the rainbow together.
What happens when white light is refracted?
It splits into it’s separate colours.
Why do objects appear certain colours?
Because they absorb only one colour out of all the seven colours. The light reflects into our eyes and the object appears to be that colour. For example, a banana appears yellow.
Why do black objects appear black?
Because they don’t reflect any colours.
Why do white objects appear white?
Because they reflect all the colours.
What are the primary colours?
Blue, Red and Green.
What are the secondary colours?
Magenta, Cyan and Yellow.
What does a colour filter do to white light?
They absorb all the other colours and only let through a certain colour.
What colours would a red filter let through?
It would only let through red and absorb the other primary colours (green and blue).
What colours would a cyan colour filter let through?
It would only allow through the primary colours it is made up of (green and blue) and absorb the third colour, red.
What colours is cyan made of?
Green and blue.
What colours are magenta made of?
Red and blue.
What colours are yellow made of?
Red and green.
