what was collectivisation?
bringing small farm units together to form bigger farms
what was the idea of it?
peasants would collaborate to produce more food which would ensure no one starved

a gradual approach - ppl saw this as unacceptable as during a food crisis

shortages were due to hoarding surpluses until they could make the max amount of money
why was mass collectivisation created?
famine of 1927-28 prompted mass collectivisation

give 3 reasons for resistance to renewed collectivisation
- abolition of the mir (1930) as it was a major blow to the village autonomy
- restrictions were placed on crops and other rural activities that was previously allowed
- collectivists were more likely to fuel food shortages rather than revive them- grain requisitioning part of collectivisation policy
