Batista was a dictator and believed in capitalist ideas when in charge of Cuba as he allowed US owned businesses to invest in Cuba. Batista’s government was corrupt and was overthrown by a revolution lead by Castro.

1962- 22 protesters were killed by Soviet Troops for protesting against the rise of meat and butter prices.

US placed Jupiter Missiles in Turkey in 1962 which made the Soviets place missles in Cuba so both superpowers were in range of the other superpower’s missiles. This raised tensions as either country could launch the missile and hit the other.
