K and T suggests that people use a small number of heuristics or rule of thumb to make decisions
Representative heuristic- choose clothing based on today’s weather
Make decision based on a prototype of what something looks like
eg- weather, taste
Availability
estimate frequency based on how easy it is to think of an example
eg- familiar with people who goes to college , so you choose to go
Anchoring and adjustment
start with an anchor then make adjustments based on new information
eg- stereotypes
Metacognition
Cognition about your own cognition
Awareness of what you know and do not know
Includes recognizing mistakes
Also awareness of cognitive deficits
Poor metacognition
Continues to make same mistakes over and over again
