1st step in ACL
A
- Running Stitch
- Establishes criterion for levels 2 and 3 of the cognitive disability scale
- Level 3 if the individual completes two running stitches

2nd step in ACL
A
- Whip Stitch
- Requires individual to bring the lacing from front to back and keep it untwisted
- Level 4 if the client is able to make at least two stitches without twisting the lace.

3rd Step in ACL
A
- Cordovon stitch
- Requires multiple steps
- demonstrate and ask the individual to complete the stitch
- Client scores 5 if he completes the step using trial and error problem solving
- Level 6 if he uses deductive reasoning to correct an error

Allen Cognitive Module
A
- Comprised of 24 craft project with ACL ratings of 3.0-5.8
- Used for both evaluation and treatment
- Each craft activities rated on the ACL scale
- Specific observational criteria are established for each item
- Allows therapist to make more specific ratings
- Individual can receive 4.2, 4.4, and 4.6 ratings instead of 4
- Therapist can be more confident in a final score by completing several craft activities and observations
- the measure is limited in terms of psychometric reliability and validity testing
