What is the aim of our practical?
To investigate whether using the same or different slave systems(using visual or acoustic distraction tasks) in the WMM affects the amount of trigrams able to be recalled out of 15.

Opportunity sampling.
What was the results of the Mann Whitney U test and is it significant?
U= 9.5
-Yes it is significant as the critical value is 15.
What was the visula ditractor task used?
Spot the difference.
Was was the verbal distractor task used?
Word search
What was the conclusion for our study?
The number of trigrams remembered out of 15 is higher for the participants who completed the visual distractor task than those who completed the verbal distractor task
Why is the study not generalisable?
-Used a sample of only 16 people who all have many shared characteristics so is unrepresented.
Why is the study reliable?
Very standardised such as the trigram words and distractor tasks within the group.
How is the study applicable?
Can help with revision techniques so you do not overload the slave system.
Why is the study valid?
-High ecological validity.
Why is the study not valid?
It is not a lab study so there may be more EV’s so can not be sure the IV is actually effecting the DV.
Why is the study crediable?
Most ethical guidelines were upheld (e.g protection from harm)>
