DV: Number of digits they remember for that condition - each ps take 3 tests for their condition

- 7 ps ( 6M + 1F)
- Age range: 16 to 55
How did you overcome ethical issues in the cognative practical?
- Confidentiality, participants were kept confidential
- Right to withdrawn, were informed in consent form
What were the results of the cognative practical?
Mean - C1:0.43 C2:2.29
Willcoxen - ordinal data
T value = 0 Critical value = 3
T value is less therefore results were not by chance
What are the strengths of the cognative practical?
- Standadised procedure - used repeated measures design - each ps used the same conditions and therefore procedure was same for all
What are the weaknesses of the cognative practical?
- Lab experiement - Lacks EV due to artifical task - recalling digit strings - not everyday task
- Repeated measures design - chance of demand characteristics - order effects

More realistic task - Shopping list - more ecologically valid
