made up of carboniferous LIMESTONE, Old Red SANDSTONE, and BOULDER CLAY - SHALE and MUDSTONE

characterised by HIGH, VERTICAL CLIFFS, made of SEDIMENTARY rocks.

HEADLANDS at Witches Point and Nash Point
SANDY BAYS near Dinraven and Merthyr Maws
Large areas of WAVE-CUT PLATFORMS especially around Nash Point

Bristol Channel funnels large, DESTRUCTIVE WAVES onto the coast from the south west.
creates a highly-eroded DISCORDANT coastline which is prone to CLIFF FALLS.

Tidal Island, separated from the Gower Peninsula by a shore platform
Only exposed for 2.5 hours before and after low tide
Takes 15 mins to walk across to the first of the 3 sections
Strata making up the platform dips at 30-45* angles making it a corrugated surface
