What is hydraulic action ?
When air becomes trapped in cracks on a cliff face, when the waves crash against the cliff face the trapped air compresses weakening the rock and causes erosion.
What is abrasion ?
Debris is thrown at the cliff face by the waves and grind down the rock face
What is attrition ?
Waves smash rocks and pebbles on the shore into each other and they break and become smoother
What is solution erosion ?
Sea water which is acidic will dissolve some types of rock such as chalk or limestone
What are the 4 types of transportation processes ?
Traction

What is traction ?
Large boulders and pebbles are rolled along the sea bed
What is saltation?
Small stones, pebbles and silt bounce along the sea bed
What is suspension ?
Fine material such as clay and sediment is carried by the sea
What is solution ?
Dissolved minerals are carried by the sea
