Coaching Flashcards
Def of coaching
An on-going, intentional conversation that empowers a person or group to fully live out God’s calling.
Coaching assumptions (4)
- HS teaches- coaches seek to help coachee hear the HS
- all people have calling but may need clarity and growth in calling
- coachee-generated insights are most relevant and useful
- by coach tools, coaches can speed up and improve quality of coachee insights
The transformational formula
T= (D + A + R)^HS
T= (D + A + R)^HS
Transformation is the result of the sum of the discovery, action, and reinforcement multiplied by the power of the Holy Spirit.
80/20 rule
Coach listens 80% of the time; 20% of a half-hour is 6 mins of talking- with Qs, that’s 1 or 2 stories tops
WAIT
Why am I talking?
Reflective Listening
- taking something significant, summarizing it, and putting it out there tentatively—> others-centered listening
- imp to balance Qs w/reflective listening so not interrogation
- their discovery is more powerful than ur advice
- reflective listening good for conflict
