Co-Transport - 21/11/23 Flashcards
What is Co-Transport?
When two different molecules are transported by the same carrier protein at the same time
What criteria must be met before Co-Transport happens?
Co-transport will only happen if both molecules are present and bind to carrier protein
What are the individual movements of the two different molecules in Co-Transport?
1) One molecule will be moving down the conc. gradient (high-low)
2) One molecule is actually moving against conc. gradient
No _ is required by Co-Transport protein.
ATP
What is one of the main purposes for ATP in Co-Transport if used?
ATP has been used to set up a conc. gradient.
What is Direction of Movement for Co-Transport?
High to Low
Low to High
Which type of movement is the only active one?
Active Transport
What does Facilitated Diffusion specificly require?
A carrier protein
Which movements are tranport proteins?
1) Facilitated Diffusion
2) Osmosis
3) Active transport
4) Co-Transport
What is an example of Co-Transport happening?
Sucrose and H+
