Cloud storage Flashcards
Cloud storage
Stores data on a remote server; you can access photos and files that are synced on the server
Cloud computing
Provides access to software, resources, and info via a virtual server
Relies on a suitable internet connection
You can access software on a browser where you don’t need to download the software for usage
Provides flexible access to data and apps, even though you might have to pay for more storage
Advantages of cloud computing/storage
Data can be accessed offsite
Data can be accessed on a wide variety of devices
software with specification requirements that are too high can easily be accessed through cloud computing, which means less powerful hardware is required
Saves costs for businesses
More flexibility (meetings can be held in various places)
Unlimited storage use
Disadvantages of cloud computing
Cloud storage/ computing makes heavy use of bandwidth (rate of data transfer over a network)
Costs monthly subscriptions
Inaccessible if there’s a power outrage
Privacy concerns as to who controls the data
security is managed by the company of the cloud, not the organisation using it
