What is wifi
A system that enables conenction over the internet between wireless devices
What is bluetooth
Wireless connection of devices over a limited range
Often used in PAN networks to connect peripherals such as devices, headsets, M and K
What is broadband
High speed transmission technique where wide band of frequencies are used to transmit messages
MFD
Multifunctional device such as phone or camera that can connect to internet or a printer
What are PCs
Computers that operate as standalone computers and can access the internet, use software, storing large amounts of data, portable and lightweight
What are servers
Provide services for other computers in a network
Used to store data files centrally for multiple use access/relieve storage on an individual pc
Allow shared access to devices such as printers and scanners
What are mainframe computers
computers that fill up large amounts of space and process large amounts of data
What are navigation systems
Systems that use gps (Global positioning systems, that use signals from orbits to work out position of a device) to navigate to locations, and can provide info about traffic congestion, weather, points of interest and accidents
What are digital cameras
devices that take either still or video (movements of many images which include sound and subtitles) images
What are Data capture and collection systems
Devices that take information and collect it to perform specific tasks
Eg. Fingerprint scannings for biometric entry
Lanyard scannings/ iris scannings
Automatic number plate recognitions for crime prevention and enforcement
Barcode readers for fast data entry for checkouts at supermarkets
What are input devices
Devices that interact or send information to a computer
Eg. Mouse, keyboard, webcam, microphone, USB
What are output devices
Devices that provide information to the user from the computer
Eg. speakers, printers, monitors, Projectors
What are accessibility devices
Devices that provide alternative input and output devices for those that are impaired
Eg. Braille keyboard, Voice recognition software, Zoom tool, Eye motion sensors, touch screen, big keyed keyboard, ergonomic keyboard and mouse
