What is stage 1 lung cancer?
Small amd localised with no cancer in lymph nodes
What is stage 4 lung cancer?
Cancer in both lungs, distant metastases, malignant pleural or pericardial effusion
What 3 things are considered in classification of lung cancer?
Tumour (size/position), Nodes, Metastases
What are metastases?
The development of secondary tumours away from the original tumour
What 6 ways are lung cancers viewed?
Broncoscopy, Image-guided lung biopsy, Mediastinoscopy, Thoracoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound, PET-CT scan
What are the 5 ways cancer symptoms can present?
Local, Constitutional, Metastatic, Paraneoplastic, Ectopic Pregnancy
How can local cancer symptoms present?
Coughing, Haemoptysis, Breathlessness, Chest Wall pain, Hoarse Voice
What are constitutional symptoms of lung cancer?
Anorexia, Weight loss, Fevers/sweats
Where are metastases found?
Lymph nodes, brain, bone, liver, adrenals, skin
What is a pathological fracture?
A break in a bone caused by a weakness due to disease
What is included in an A to E assessment?
Check airways, check breathing, check curculation, check disabilities, check Exposure
