Q

What does PTH do and where does it come from?

A
  • PTh comes from the parathyroid gland and it gets released in reesponse to hypocalcemia and decreased Vitamin D
  • PTH has the following fucntions:
  • 1) Increases calcium and phosphorses reabsorption from the bone
  • 2) Decreased phosphorous reabsorption by the kidneys
  • 3) Increases activity of vitamin D
  • ## 4) Increases calcium absorption from the gut and distal renal tubules
