Give OHI for a paeds patient

A

Brushing technique - modified bass technique

Frequency - twice per day, once in morning and once before bed

Supervision - parents do it up to 7, maybe longer depending on manual dexterity

Toothbrush - handle right size for child, medium textured. Replace every 3-4 months

Fluoride delivery - pea sized amount of toothpaste

Flossing - Introduce flossing when teeth contact

Diet - emphasise frequency of sugar is bad, eat sugar at mealtimes and not in between

Discuss sealants and also varnish
