Give OHI for a paeds patient
Brushing technique - modified bass technique
Frequency - twice per day, once in morning and once before bed
Supervision - parents do it up to 7, maybe longer depending on manual dexterity
Toothbrush - handle right size for child, medium textured. Replace every 3-4 months
Fluoride delivery - pea sized amount of toothpaste
Flossing - Introduce flossing when teeth contact
Diet - emphasise frequency of sugar is bad, eat sugar at mealtimes and not in between
Discuss sealants and also varnish
Eruption dates maxillary permanent teeth?
Central incisor - 7
Lateral incisor - 8
Canine - 11
First premolar - 10
Second premolar - 10
First permanent molar - 6/7
Second permanent molar - 12
Wisdom teeth - 18
Eruption dates mandibular primary teeth?
Central incisor - 6
Lateral incisor - 7
Canine - 9
