A stool sample has been received in the laboratory and cultured overnight on a selective medium. The lab found gram-negative bacilli and on testing with MacConkey agar found that they are non-lactose fermenting bacteria. What is the most likely infection?

Salmonella enteritidis

E. coli is LACTOSE FERMENTING!!!!
