Explain the 4 main factors that affect the temperature in Britain
- Latitude - the further from the equator the lower the sun in the sky causing less heat
- Altitude - height above sea level - temperature drops 1C every 150 metres
- Distance from sea - land cools and warms quicker than sea so inland temperatures rise and fall more than seaside temperatures
- Wind direction - including ocean currents. These bring cold air from north or warm air from south. The prevailing wind is from the south west bringing warm moist air from the Atlantic
