Advantages of climate change
Temperature rise ~ farmers will be able to grow wheat
Able to grow 20% more hay ~ more sheep and cattle
Melt of ice will be more water ~ 87% of electricity in Iceland is already hydroelectric, this melting will help this cause
More HEP ~ more investment into energy-hungry industries
How will the landscape of Iceland change due to climate change
Icecaps and glaciers melt
Could benefit from this as more water would be supplied not the rivers and provide hydroelectric power
However glaciers will have disappeared by 2200
Disadvantages to climate change
Sea levels rise ~ threatens coastal towns
Extreme weather events caused by low pressure be one more common
Affect fishing stocks
Less tourists as they mainly come to see the landscape which there won’t be much more of anymore
Travelling there costs will rise ~ affects tourist industry
