Rutherford Classification
A
- Stage 0 = asymptomatic, bruit, aneurysm seen on PE
- Grade 1 = mild claudication pain
- Grade 2 = moderate intermittent claudication
- Grade 3 = severe intermittent claudication
- Grade 4 = ischemic rest pain
- Grade 5 = minor tissue loss (ischemic ulcer)
- Grade 6 = major tissue loss (gangrene)

ASA physical status
A
ASA 1 - normal, healthy pt
ASA 2 - pt w/ mild systemic disease, well controlled/no functional limitations (e.g., DM, HTN)
ASA 3 - pt w/ severe systemic disease, not well controlled/functional limitations (e.g., angina, severe COPD, uncontrolled HTN)
ASA 4 - pt w/ severe systemic disease that is a constant threat to life (e.g., CHF, unstable angina, advanced organ dysfunction)
ASA 5 - moribund, not expected to live w/o sx (e.g., ruptured AAA, PE, head injury w/ increased ICP)
ASA 6 - organ donor
E - emergency situation

- Class I: can see hard palate, soft palate, uvula, fauces, pillars (laryngoscopic: entire glottic opening)
- Class II: hard palate, soft palate, uvula, fauces (laryngoscopic: posterior commissure)
- Class III: hard palate, soft palate, uvular base (Laryn: tip of epiglottis)
- Class IV: Hard palate only (Laryng: no glottal structures)
