POSITIVE SYMPTOMS
-additional experience beyond of ordinary existence
HALLUCINATIONS
-unusual sensory exp no basis in reality effect any senses e.g AUDITORY or VISUAL
DELUSIONS
-irrational beliefs that have no basis in reality make sz ppl behave in ways makes sense to them but bizzarre to others
-e.g=delusions of persecution= false belief you are being harassed e.g by government
Delusions of control= controlled by something external e.g aliens
NEGATIVE SYMPTOMS
-Loss of usual abilities nd experiences
AVOLITION= loss of motivation to carry out everyday task difficulty keep up with goal directed activity
Andreason 3 signs of avolition= poor hygiene lack or persistence in work nd lack of energy
SPEECH POVERTY= reduction in amount of quality of speech delay in sufferers verbal responses during conversation or lack of fluency
