Classical Conditioning (Chpt.3) Flashcards
Classical Conditioning
Looks at the association between two or more events an stimulus and outcome
Tone->food
Much different than habitation/ sensitization why?
Ex. Classical Conditioning
hit knee->knee jerk-its a reflex
tone->hit knee->knee jerk-> its an association
eye puff->blink
light->eye puff->blink
Why do some foods look tasty and other’s don’t
Foods could have adverse affects when their is no color it could look disgusting
Pavlok
tone->food: Salvation
tone: salvation
Unconditioned Stimulus (US)
tone->(food):Salvation
food (US)
-biological
its the stimulus that elicits behavior
Unconditioned Response (UR)
tone->food:(Salvation)
Salvation (UR)
Conditioned Stimulus (CS)
(tone) ->food:Salvation
- an neutral stimulus
Tone
Conditioned Response(CR)
Tone(CS):Salvation (CR)
Salvation
UR & CR
response or behavior
Taste aversion
Saccharine->LiCI injection
decrease consumption of saccharine
special feature one trial learning, long delay learning
Fear conditioning
when you were a kid did you ever touch a hot burner perhaps there was an indicator light on the stove to indicate the burner was on
Measuring fear
measure the suppression of behavior
Conditioned Emotional Response (CER)
xx
Suppress Ratio
Suppression ratio=(CS RESPONDING)/(CS RESPONDING)+ (PRE CS RESPONDING)
suppression ratio
if the suppression ratio is near 0.5 not much suppress occurred (crappy learning)
if the suppression ratio is near 0 a lot of suppression occurred (great learning)
