burnout
why so many SW burnout?
mismanagement, schedule imbalance, intense work days, chronic fear of downsizing, lack of professional projects, office and inter-agency politics, lack of appreciation, personal risk
bodily/emotional/psych symptoms that occur when experiencing stressor (evolutionary adaptation)
stress response
signs and symptoms of prolonged stress can be:
physio, behavioural, personal
stress response very intense, can cause:
deterioration of BV, clots, organ breakdown, narrowed attention, extreme irritability, disrupted social relationship
different types of stressors:
uncontrollable, semi-controllable
13 signs of burnout:
chronic fatigue, anger, self criticism, cynicism, headaches, wt change, sleeplessness, depression, SOB, suspiciousness, helpless, risk taking
happiness comes from these 3 areas:
enviro (10%), genes and brain working (50%), choices/actions (40%)
3 actions that get in way of happiness:
comparison, lack of close friendships, hold onto resentment
5 things that ^ happiness:
focus on good, smile, seek human connection, show gratitude, show kindness
