  • Newcomers brought diseases
  • British North American Act (1876) : Abo understood land was shared.
  • The Indian Pact (1876): Forced to live on reserve governed by federal. Goal was assimilation.
  • Residential schools (late 1800s): Child required to be send there. Not on abo land. Goal was to assimilate, done by cultural degradation.
  • Amendment to the INdian Act (1985): Women married to non-status no longer loose her status
