Introduction
The government are extremely careful of how they are presented and viewed by the public. If the public doesn’t like a party they loses their vote. Citizens have power, they can also join pressure group and protest as a way a gaining power. This essay will argue that citizens have one biggest influence a on the government and pressure groups.

Insider groups work with the government privately and tend to be low profile. They often lobbying and quiet consultants. They often have a close relationship with the government.

The law society regularly consults with the government to propose changes to law. This saw an increase in maximum penalties that a person could face for harm to animals and wildlife.

Inside groups are successful due to their close relationship with the government where they can get across opinions by conversations that are face to face.

These are groups that go directly to the public. They tend to use methods that are high profile like protests and social media stunts.

These are groups that represent a section of society. They tend to use methods like lobbying and that have direct access to government.

Sectional groups can be successful due to their close relationship with the government and the fact that people will feel close to a group that represents them.

Cause groups represent a cause or issue in society, it can be one off issue. Methods that they use include large scale high profile like petitions or protests.

Cause groups are not as popular because they often use large scale stunts that annoy citizens, meaning they are less supportive of their cause.

Petitions are method used by pressure groups. They require the signatures of others.

The most successful petition with 6.1 million signatures was debated but never passed.

Petitions can be succesful due to the influence of citizens, but once in control the are less succesful.

Direct action is a method used by pressure group to push the government. When a groups tries to implement or prevent themselves.

Just Stop Oil threw cans of soup on a Van Gogh painting as a public demonstration and glued themselves to the wall.

This method isn’t very influential as it more annoys or upsets citizens. The public is often more upset because of damage done.

Methods used that involve citizens are more successful but once the government has power these methods fail.
Conclusion
Citizens have one of the biggest powers in the government. Pressure groups or action that annoys the citizens will be successful then those who involve and include citizens.
