circulatory systems Flashcards
1
Q
Differences for circulatory system of fish and mammals.
A
Mammal -> double, blood goes through heart twice in a circuit.
Fish -> single, blood goes through heat once in a circuit.
Mammal -> 2 atria, 2 ventricles, 4 chambers in heart.
Fish -> 1 atria, 1 ventricle, 2 chambers in heart.
Mammal -> blood passes through 1 set of capillaries.
Fish -> blood passes through 2 sets of capillaries.
Mammal -> high O2 demand.
Fish -> low O2 demand.
Mammal -> Blood maintained at higher pressure.
Fish -> blood pressure is lower.

Q
Similarities of circulatory systems for fish and mammals.
A
- Both are closed systems.
- Both have a heart.
- Both carry O2 using haemoglobin.
- Both have arteries/ veins/ capillaries.
