2
Q

what causes the sound of a heart beat?

A

the thing that causes the sound of a heart beat is the alternating of the opening and closing of the valves.

Q

explain the 2 circulation loops of the circulatory system.

A

the two circulation loops are:
1. the pulmonary circulation loop, is when deoxygenated blood exits the right ventricle then it travels to the pulmonary trunk where it splits between the right and left pulmonary arteries. these arteries transport the deoxygenated blood to the lungs, then it turns into oxygenated blood and goes to the pulmonary veins and to the left atrium.(7)

  1. the systemic circulation loop, is when oxygenated blood is pumped from the left ventricle, through the aorta, through the systemic arteries, then to the arterioles and capillaries that supply the oxygen and nutrients in the blood to body tissue, when this happens carbon dioxide is absorbed. then the deoxygenated blood go through the systemic veins where it is brought to the superior and inferior vena cava, then it flows into the right atrium.(8)

Q

what artery in the heart is the exception to this?

A

the exception to this is the pulmonary artery which carries oxygen poor blood from the right ventricle to the lungs.

Q

how do blood vessels play a role in temperature control?(2)

A

1.blood vessels play a role in temperature control because when you are really cold the blood vessels constrict through the surface capillaries, to slow the blood flow to the cold tissue, to reduce heat loss from the blood.
2. blood vessels play a role in temperature control when you are really hot because the blood vessels expand, so you can get more oxygenated blood to the tissue to disperse heat in your body.

Q

list and describe the major components of blood.

A

the major components of blood is:
1. the plasma which is the liquid component of blood, plasma transports blood cells through out the body along with, nutrients, waste, anti-bodys, and hormones.
2. the blood cells, red blood cells, carry oxygen from the lungs to the body and carry carbon dioxide form the body back to the lungs.
white blood cells, protect the body from infection.

Q

explain the process of clotting

A

the process of clotting starts when there in a wound or injury so the blood vessel constricts to slow the blood flow to the injured area, then the platelets from a “plug” at the opening of the wound, then fibrins gather at the injury to pull the sides of the blood vessel together and close the wound.
