Circulatory Emergency Flashcards
Cardiovascular disease
Abnormal condition effecting the heart and blood vessels
Angina
Chest pain
Myocardial Infraction
Heart attack
Stable angina
occurs while a patient
is exercising or under emotional stress and
follows a predictable pattern.
Unstable ungina
It may occur when the patient is at
rest, last longer than 10 minutes, or not respond
to medication.
Congestive Heart Failure
is an abnormal
condition in which the heart’s pumping ability
is diminished.
Cardiac Arrest
Heart Stops Functioning
Jugular Vein Distension
vein in the neck that indicates heart stops functioning
Asystole
total absence of electrical activity in the heart
Pulseless electrical activity
there is electrical in the heart but to weak to produce a pulse
ventricular tachycardia
heart is to rapid contracting and not giving enough time to fill with blood between contraction
venticular febrilator
causes heart muscle to quiver
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
CPR
Chest recoil
letting the chest rise fully/normal way
transient ishemic attack ( TIA)
mini stroke caused by reduced blood flow
to part of the brain
cerebrovascular accident
stroke is a disruption of blood flow to a part
of the brain.
ishemic stroke
occur when a cerebral artery
becomes blocked or narrowed
FAST Method
stoke assessment face, arms, speech, time.
Subarachnoid hemorrhage
occurs when an artery
on the surface of the brain bursts
Thrombotic strokes
occur when a blood clot
(thrombus) develops in a cerebral artery.
Embolic strokes
occur when a piece of material
(embolus) forms outside of the brain and is carried
to the cerebral arteries by the circulatory system.
HEMORRHAGIC STROKES
occur when there is a break
in one of the brain’s blood vessels.
Intracerebral hemorrhage
occurs when a blood
vessel within the brain tissue bursts and spills
blood into the surrounding tissues.
