pop culture replaced folk culture

profit, instrumental purpose not like folk culture

get votes, more viewers, profit motivated
what is high culture?
perceived as pinnacle of creative achievement, high status products
what is low culture?
culture with “no value”. elite see it is less refined, no intellectual gain, less education required
what is heterogeneity?
a range of cultures, ethnicities, sexes, class, ages, tradition, religion, multifaceted social community of a blend of different factors
what is Little Englandism?
the belief that England is a superior state, leading to a crisis of identity if this changes
