What was the turning point of 1940 and its impact on leadership?
The soviet union waged war on Finland so Britain considered sending troops there. Therefore, Britain instead looked towards Norway to get a foothold in the war. However the Norway campaign was a failure for Chamberlain and led to major debate in the commons about the leadership of the nation.
Who was seen as the likely takeover of PM when Chamberlain resigned due to bad health?
Lord Halifax - Friend of George VI and a former foreign secretary. However, he sat in the House of Lords so would have had to renounce his title which he didn’t want to do.
