chronic kidney disease Flashcards
RAA system (normal)
sympathetic stimulation= decreased Perfusion= decreased Na= renin secreted from kidneys=increased BP
Damaged or decreased GFR
3mo; 10 ml=end stage need transplant or dialysis/uremic (multiple body systems affected)
stage one
asymptomatic, 1mil to 20,000 nephrons can still function
stage 2
25% normal gfr, BUN/CR^, fatigue, pruritus, poly/nocturia cant concentrate urine
Stage 3
GFR 5-10%, uremic, NO adl’s
Leading causes of chronic kidney disease
htn diabetes
Urinary
retention, diuretic therapy, after dialysis=anuria
metabolic
BUN/Cr^, Bun=n/v, lethargy, decreased LOC
elctrolyte, acid/base
metabolic acidosis, ^K, sodium retention=edema,HTN,HF, (
Carb/triglyceride
^sugar/insulin(=triglyceride); uremia= decreased insulin need bc cant be excreted by kidneys
Hematologic
suppressed
CV
CVD= death bc of htn and fluid retention ; give htn meds
Increased K treatment
kayexelate, calcium gluconate, insulin, dialysis if dysrhythmias
Anemia treatment
epogen
what to restrict
high protein, water, na, k, phosphate, nsaids, mag based laxatives/antacids,
