St Paul said that alcohol is moderation is allowed
“Do not drink water only but take a little wine to help your digestion, since you are ill so often.” (1 Timothy 5:23)
You can have wine if you are ill as St Paul permits it
If it is condoned in the Bible that Christians are allowed alcohol also
Jesus’ first miracle was turning water into wine
“the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.” (John 2: 1- 11)
This was at the Wedding of Cana
Jesus turned water into wine and as Christians should follow Jesus’ example, they are allowed to celebrate with alcohol also
Alcohol is a connection with Jesus
At the last supper, Jesus said: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood.” (1 Corinthians 11)
Alcohol was a huge part of the Eucharist and so is permissible
Christians want to be connected with Jesus through the covenant, which is alcohol
The Catholic church says drinking in moderation is acceptable
“The virtue of temperance disposes us to avoid every kind of excess: the abuse of food, alcohol, tobacco, or medicine.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church)
‘excess’ should be avoided but this does not mean that alcohol cannot be consumed, such as it does not say that food should not be consumed
Christians should follow Church teachings
