Q

Long Range Order vs. Short Range Order

A

Long range order means that the crystalline structures are continuously the same for a long amount of distance. Short range ordered materials have only a few cluster of atoms, or basically no order over any longer distance.

Q

Properties of an amorphous metal

A

There would not be planes of atoms to slip, so it’d be very strong yet very brittle and less dense.

Q

Amorphous Magnetic Metals

A

Don’t have crystals and no crystal directions which allows them to be equally easily in all directions and the direction of magnetization can be easily changed.
